Last month in these three Saturnbranches, I experienced an unexpected visitor: a Bitcoin ATM. Three of them have been in stores in Cologne (Hohe Strasse), Frankfurt (Zeil) and Dortmund (Dortmund City) starting from the start of May. That is the very thing they reported MediaMarktSaturngroup yesterday, June 1, 2022, in a public statement.
You can utilize the machines to purchase Bitcoin and other digital forms of money rapidly and effectively on location at a substantial German innovation market. This is how Christian Stephan, the Head of Research, makes sense of the progression:
The demand for cryptocurrencies is enormous – our technology-loving customers are particularly interested. The Bitcoin ATMs therefore fit perfectly into our service portfolio.
Intrigued clients should enlist online before utilizing the machines (at: http://www.kurant-btm.de/registerde) and download a wallet application to their cell phone. It makes a QR code. The device checks this, and the ideal sum is paid in real money. Consequently, clients get the relating sum in bitcoins credited to their wallets.
The drive was made in collaboration with Kurant, the European market pioneer for conveying such machines. He is situated in Austria. There are 34,000 Bitcoin ATMs worldwide (as of December 2021), 30,000 of which are located in the United States.
Kurant has introduced north of 200 Bitcoin ATMs across Europe, including Germany, Spain and Greece. In Austria, they have been coordinating starting around the 2019 Media market. In April 2022, the organization set up Bitcoin ATMs in twelve branches. Exist in German urban communities. Ocean Coin ATM Radar presently has 50 such machines.
So there is still an opportunity to get better: MediaMarkt and Saturn alone are addressed in Germany with just about 410 branches. Up to this point, the involvement in the pilot in Austria has generally been excellent, as per the official statement.
