Gil Medical Center Partners With Longenesis To Design And Integrate Blockchain Solution

Gil Medical Center is a South Korea hospital who has made a partnership with a health data company called Longenesis. A research will be conducted through the partnership. The main purpose of the research is to design and integrate a blockchain solution called custom blockchain-based health data management solution. Both partners have signed an agreement.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at the health data company Longenesis Garri Zmudze said, “Gil General Hospital has a splendid reputation for being on the edge of adopting latest innovation. We are honored to mark our Korean presence with a partnership like such.”

The blockchain solution will be designed upon an open-source Exonum blockchain framework of Bitfury. Data collection and aggregation can be streamlined, specific compliance needs of patients (including with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)) can be addressed, and medical research processes can be improved through the solution. Transparent patient consent management can also be enabled through the solution. Patients will be given the full control over data usage.

The health data company Longenesis is known as an exclusive healthcare application provider. Providing an AI blockchain technology-based data management and data analytics solution and speeding up healthcare development are goals of Longenesis. Whereas the Gachon University Gil Medical Center was established in 1978. The scope of activities related to the clinical trial testing center, the largest artificial kidney center, the groundbreaking cancer center, women cancer center, genetic counseling clinic, anti-aging center, brain health center, etc., is increasing constantly.​

Gil Medical Center used a fully integrated computer system in 1991. The system was for the duties of hospital administration. The South Korea hospital became Korea’s first hospital to use the system. The hospital now adopted the blockchain solution of Longenesis. It became Korea’s first hospital to use the solution, EurekAlert reported.
