Škoda Auto: soon an NFT collection?

On June 20, Škoda India, the Indian subsidiary of the Czech automotive group Škoda Auto, launched an NFT project in partnership with the Near protocol. Named “Škodaverse India“, the platform will offer reduced gas costs, interoperable NFTs for cross-platform use, as well as NFT eco-friendly and scalable. In an interview, the company said:

Škodaverse India will also unlock tailored utilities and experiences for NFT holders, which will be revealed along with the details of the first delivery. All NFTs will be minted on carbon neutral blockchains, in line with our sustainable vision.

The first collection NFT de Škoda should be launched very soon, but no date has been communicated for the moment. Users can directly mint the NFT as soon as it is released using their crypto wallet.

Škoda’s first adventure in Web3

According to the developers of the project, future holders will benefit from several advantages with these NFT. In particular the possession of unique digital assets representing the works of art or the objects of the collection Škodaa potential of valuation and of resale in the future, as well as access to exclusive benefits, rewards or experiences associated with owning the NFT.

On the platform, NFT trading is possible in fiat currency or in cryptocurrencies. The developers said the NFT platform represented the company’s first venture into the Web3.

Founded in 1925 in the former Czechoslovakia, Škoda was one of Europe’s largest industrial manufacturers during the interwar period. The company then became state property in 1948. The car brand is popular in Central and Eastern European countries, with 731,000 cars delivered in 2022.
